Our YMCA Overnight Camp Programs:
Camp at the Y is a great place for summer fun and adventure! Our dedicated staff return year after year to help campers develop skills in athletics, arts, and swimming, all while having fun, making new friends, and creating lifelong memories. Age-appropriate divisions within the camp offer enriching, active, creative opportunities for playful learning. Head counselors are college-age, and a registered nurse is in attendance each day. All campers receive a camp t-shirt.
Each of our camps offer traditional, back-to-basics summer camp experiences promoting the Y’s core values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty.
Leadership – The Y Staff:
Our well-trained YMCA camp staff is dedicated to providing your child with an exceptional camp experience. Summer staff is carefully chosen for their enthusiasm, talent, and dedication - many of our counselors are former Kahagon, Oratam and Michikamau campers. All staff participate in pre-season training to further develop their skills to create an environment where our campers feel cared for, accepted, and encouraged. Advanced training is provided for staff in rock climbing, challenge course, overnight hikes, lifeguarding, and boating.
All staff 18 and over are given background checks.
Kids love to swim and there is no better place to learn than at a YMCA camp. We use the YMCA Progressive Swim Program where campers are grouped by ability. An enclosed area with a consistent depth of four feet provides a great place for beginners to get started. All classes are taught by certified instructors who also guard during recreational swim. Teaching children to enjoy and respect the water is one of the camps’ most important goals.
Depending on the campers’ age, activities include swimming, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, campouts, nature, games, arts and crafts, outdoor skills, and special events.
