Practice schedule for the 2011 - 2012 Season

Saturday     12:30-1:30 PM at Y
When there are no meets
1:30-3:00 PM at Y

Group Breakdown:

Beginner - new swimmers 10 and under

Red - 9-11 who can do 3/4 strokes legally

White - 10-up who can do all 4 strokes but need endurance work for
the senior group

Blue - 11-18 who are working on endurance work, speed, introduction to stroke specification and are at States, JO' and National level.

 

Group standards (what must be completed to move to next level):

Beginner -
3 out of 4 strokes performed effectively
can swim 50 freestyle with correct flipturn in competition
can swim 150 yards of free and back without stopping
mastered streamlines on free and back
Can use pace clock effectively
All 4 strokes performed effectively
Backstroke flipturn (basics)
100 IM done legally in competition
100 free done with flipturns in competition
50's of all strokes legally in competition
backstroke start from the bars
legal turns in breast and fly

 

Red & White
Can do repeats on own with using the pace clock
Mastered backstroke flip turn
200 IM done effectively in competition
200 free done effectively in competition
100's of each stroke done effectively in competition
start introducing more distance events

 

Blue
All strokes mastered
Can do all events proficiently
Trains in distance, stroke and sprint
Masters intervals and using the pace clock
Can be advanced, elite, pre-national or national level
Endurance training at peak

Guidelines will be described in both the swimmers and the parents handbook.
