The YMCA of Greater Bergen County (Hackensack) was recently granted $15,000, from OritaniBank Charitable Foundation.

This year’s grant is in support of The Strong Kids 7th Grade program, which provides membership to an after school program of 7th grade students in the greater Hackensack area. This is an active and educational membership to promote a lifetime of healthy habits. Strong Kids members may use the facility in a supervised environment during the school year Monday through Friday from 3-6 pm.

OritaniBank Charitable Foundation is pleased to support youth development and strengthening the community to help people of all ages live healthy and confident,” said Kevin J. Lynch, President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation and Chairman, President and CEO of Oritani Bank. “We proudly demonstrate our strong commitment to the Y through our continued support.”

“Program subsidy and financial membership assistance keeps the Y available for youth, teens and families who need us most,” said Glenn MacAfee, Interim CEO of the YMCA of Greater Bergen County. “We are thankful for the support of OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, with its

continued commitment and loyalty, the Y is able to provide free memberships to 7th graders in Bergen County through the Strong Kids 7th Grade Program.”

It is believed youth that are positively involved in organizations at this vulnerable age have a greater chance to insure that they become responsible adults. In addition to the foundations grant, this program will be funded from the Y’s general campaign funds.

For over 100 years, the YMCA of Greater Bergen County, located in an historic building in Hackensack, has been strengthening the foundations of the community, committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
